One Leg in One Leg Out

Tonight I had to go out and meet with some clients before they left for out of town tomorrow.  Just past 8:30 I helped my wife get the girls ready for bed.  I packed up my stuff and headed towards the door. Both girls ran screaming to me. With one on each leg I tried to kiss them both good night again.  I wish I could say this is the first time such an event happened, but it’s not. Usually a few times a week on of my daughters will cling to me as a head out the door. Part of me wishes they would just let me leave. The majority of a me is glad they cling. As hard as it is to leave when they act like this, I know it’s just part of being a parentpreneur. The day I leave and they don’t care will be a sad day.  I know they will get used to me leaving for work. I want them to want me to stay. I also want them to know that my business is important because it helps people including our family.

To all the parentpreneurs who have one leg out the door and one leg being held by a small child, stay strong. Embrace their desire for you. Embrace the struggle that is balancing family and business. Be grateful you have the two to balance. Many people go to work each day in unfulfilled jobs and face the same desire from their kids.  Some people go to work only dreaming of someday having kids to want them to stay home.

Till next time hug the child on the leg and work hard, it’s worth it.
