Reshaping my blog – Welcome to Parentpreneurship

This year (2012) I have decided to reshape my blog to focus on a group of people like myself I like to call “Parentpreneurs.”  A parentpreneur is someone who is a business owner and parent at the same time.  We are the backbone of this great country.  Without small business the American economy would collapse.  Owning a small business is tough enough on its own, then throw in being a parent, life gets interesting.

In my current stage of life I own a small real estate brokerage (Green Door Real Estate) and a custom home building business (Tandem Homes). I am married to my beautiful wife Oakley, and have a soon to be 4-year-old daughter named, Ayla, and a 15 month old daughter named, Joss.

Lets just say life is  fun, exciting, stressful, and many days is exhausting and exhilarating all at the same time.  I am raising two infant daughters and two infant businesses at the same time.

One thing I learned early on in my parentpreneurship journey is that I needed help.   Through this blog I will share with you lessons I have learned through successes, failures, and the wisdom of the council I am constantly seeking. I make a conscious effort to surround myself with people who have successful businesses and families. I have enlisted the help of a business and life coach to keep me on track and grounded. I am a committed Christian and lean on my God for help and wisdom. I do my best to and read at least 1 to 2 nonfiction books a month and listen to another fiction or nonfiction book a week in my car. I know that I can’t get through life on my own so I am always asking for guidance. I’m not ashamed to admit I need help, because trying to get the best out of myself is frankly tough.

I know I am just one of millions of parentpreneurs who struggle to be their best. My goal through this blog is to share with you my wisdom, insights, and just give you hope that in spite of all the struggles, all the distractions, and all the stress this is a great life. I have found most parentpreneurs wouldn’t have it any other way.

Please sign up to follow my post and leave comments and suggestions for upcoming posts. I want to know what your challenges in life are and remind you are not alone in them.

Till next time – It’s  Blessed Life.

  1. Joe,

This is much needed insight for those Small Business Owners/Parents you keenly termed “Parentpreneurs”. Parentpreneurs are surely a unique group with their own unique challenges.

    Great Job!
