I was recently watching a video of Will Smith doing an interview. He was talking about being unrealistic in your goals. He stated that it was unrealistic for anyone to believe that you could hit a switch and lights would turn on. It wasn’t unrealistic for Edison. I have always believed in thinking big. A lot of people can’t wrap their minds around starting the next Facebook or inventing the next great thing. For many people thinking unrealistic may need to start closer to home. Not everyone is called to be a Bill Gates or Warren Buffett. We are called to be our best.
Maybe for you unrealstic thinking is being the first one in your family to finishe college. Maybe you come from a family with a history of divorce and its unrealstic for your marriage to survive. I come from a family of with a history of being successful Government employees, it was unrealstic for me to start my own business. Now I’m stepping up my unrealism to expanding the business beyond what I believe my capabilities are. You have to stretch yourself.
Think about some of the areas you have limiting beliefs. they might be financial, or weight related. You might say it’s unrealistic for me to get back to my college weight. Maybe it is, so be it and do it. What Smith was saying is that those people who chase the unrealistic often catch it. If noone chased the unrealstic our country would be nonexistent.
Till next time – chase the unrealstic
