My wife and I are about to embark on two great journey’s. We are starting a new business named Tandem Homes that will be a custom home building business. We are stepping out on complete faith and following a dream that God has put deep in my heart. As much as I tried to quench the fire, God kept the embers burning until I couldn’t deny the calling anymore. (I will still continue to sell real estate, in case your wandering) Much more on that in a later post.
The greatest journey we are about to embark on is the journey of parenthood. My wife is due on Sun. April 20th with our daughter Ayla Grace. The excitement we both feel is like none we have felt before. To me it is very similar to the feeling you get when you are in line waiting for the newest roller coaster when your a kid. Your adrenaline gets pumping because of all the upcoming twists, turns, and unknown speeds, yet your brain and stomach start saying what are you doing, there’s upcoming twist, turns and unknown speeds, I’m not sure how to react. When it’s over you get right back on and do it again. I know that my wife and I will enjoy every second of this roller coaster.
During the course of the last couple of months we have been preparing financially for the new baby and have been building a new home, while trying to sell our current home (fortunately my Realtor has been good about returning my calls, I just look in the mirror ). Yes, I am crazy to have built a new house with a pregnant wife. Luckily I have an awesome wife who has been a true angel through the whole process. With the uncertainty all that surrounds right now, we have peace that God is in control of all things. As Joel Osteen would say, “Do the natural and God will do the super natural.” More so than that is the comfort of no matter what happens we are in God’s presence which is the safest place and the scariest place to be. Safety from the point that we know we are saved and scary because we know not where he takes us.
I was reading Psalms 138 this morning and it put me at more ease. In verses 1-2 David talks about praising God with all his heart for God’s love and faithfulness. I believe he starts this Psalm and many others this way because praising God in troubled and uncertain times is true faith. It’s not “I believe in you while things are great”, but “I am in your presence always and give thanks in everything.”
He goes on to say in verse 3 “When I called, your answered me, you made me bold and stouthearted.”
In verse 7 “Though I walk in the midst of trouble you preserve my life”, … Verse 8 “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me….”
What this tells me is that God will give you what you need to strengthen your resolve to accomplish his dreams for your life. You just have to do. This may mean changing you situation, cutting out things or people who hold you back. When trouble comes your way you have to battle through it knowing he’ll protect you because he has a purpose for you. Stay praising his name, stay in the direction he leads. Life will not be easy, life will not always be comfortable, but chasing the dreams of God is the best roller coaster ride you’ll ever be on, because you may start on the ground looking up, but you’ll finish way up high looking down over troubled times and adversity as a person who endured. I am looking forward to both our journeyts because I know the result is worth it. We know that God will use us to help others and make an impact on our community, how small or large it may be he’ll have left his finger print on CC through us. He will do this same through you. Keep looking up.
Have an awesome day.
